ideal world an alternate universe marvel + dc roleplay
synopsis The world is once again in an age of heroes. After the events of New York, the world has been in chaos, with threats to the world's safety coming more often than they ever have. SHIELD could no longer conceal the presence of metahumans, and when they fell, taken down from the inside by Hydra, they left humanity vulnerable to threats it never could have imagined, until the forces of evil managed to rupture the divide between universes. With the fate of the world balancing upon the shoulders of these rising heroes, just where will your place be in this new ideal world?

ideal world is an alternate universe Marvel + DC roleplay hosted on Jcink Premium since December 2016. Set following the events of Captain America: The Winter Soldier, Justice League, and X-Men: Apocalypse, we are based primarily within the cinematic universes but with more than enough flexibility to allow for inspiration to be drawn from other sources, such as comics, video games, television series, animated shows, and more. We pride ourselves on our relaxed environment and easy-going nature to create a safe and welcoming community for all of our members.

❝ Jason didn't like to rely on anyone. People were, generally speaking, big let downs. They didn't follow their word, loyalty was lost as quickly as it was found, and moralities plummetted at a better offer. It wasn't just the howling laughter in the back of his mind reminding him of this either. It was the way Gotham worked, its life force, it was all about sucking life from wherever you could in the hopes of surviving another day.

Sure, it could be purchased for a time. Jason knew that no one in his shitty flop house apartment was going to sell him out. Not when he beat the snots out of their overbearing landlord and had the heat turned back on. But, if something better popped up, he'd be mince meat. For some people though, there was a gain in helping those weaker. Gotham did always have a thing for philanthropy.

It was a connection of these facts that had dragged him deeper into the narrows. HUD placed over his face, protecting his true identity, hiding the damage the city had wrought as he stood, waiting. A peaceful meeting. the idea hd almost felt foreign, with the way the last few weeks had been going. Bodies in Gotham Harbor half chewed up and littered with lead paving the way to his grand entrance.

The door clicked to signal the entrance of his expected guest. Jason shoved off of the wall, voice distorted as he spoke. "Glad you were willing to see me on such short notice." He moved to sit, casual and in control. "My sources tell me we have a lot to discuss." Sources being a group of kids he's been feeding and clothing for the last two weeks, defending from anyone trying to pick off their ranks.

we are the children of arkham

It hadn't been something she'd expected by any means. A call? From across the city? From one of the men who had not even a week ago been chasing her Children and sabotaging their operations? She had thought it a trap when she first heard, and even now, outfitted in her suit and hidden behind her mask, the weight of her staff heavy in her hand, she still thought it was a trap.

Oswald would have been ever so cross with her, she knew, but then, Oswald wasn't exactly at liberty to address the issue, so it was hardly as though he could complain. She was the first line of defense for the Children, and she would hardly allow them to come to harm. If it was a trap, she would simply have to spring it.

Her thumb flicked up, priming the blast from her staff as she opened the door, and she lingered in the entry, taking in the sight of him. Red Hood. A vigilante, as was common in Gotham. Her eyes flickered behind the impassive face of her mask, taking him in, the room, before she stepped across the threshold, closing the door behind her and approaching him with her head held high. "Curiosity would do wonders for you, Red Hood," she stated, her own voice distorted, sounding more masculine and menacing, part of her act, same as his. "Such as just what it is that you wish to discuss with the Children of Arkham."

Jason sneered at the mention of the children of Arkham. Thankful that his hood hid his face, the obvious displeasure that even the thought of that place spiked into him. It was a worthy cause, at least to an extent. Being Robin meant that Jason knew who went to Arkham, he knew the control Bruce had over the place. How the options were often black and white, Blackgate or Arkham. Criminals who shouldn't have even been in Arkham on rotating shifts. Men like Penguin, or even dent, who in many ways should have just been tried for their crimes.

Or those that Arkham housed who really should have been given the chair.

Regardless, its nobility was seemingly lost once the cards were all on the table. They were a liability, a danger, a slow groan in the city that had the potential to become a roar. Jason, for one, intended to be the one with the whip when that particular Lion arose. Better allies than enemies, at least while their guns seemed to be trained on the same target. "Well, you know the saying." He kept his posture relaxed, but his eyes roamed the room, carefully trained on the Lady of Arkham "Curiosity killed the cat, and all that."

Getting straight down to business he straightened up. " I know from the outside it might not seem like it, but I'm not your run of the mill gang banging thug." Jason informed her. He wasn't about taking over territory or trying to run them out of the narrows. If anything, it was the opposite. " I think you and i have mutual feelings for this city, and thus, mutual enemies." The Bat, the GCPD, The Prince of Gotham and all his merry little horsemen.

we are the children of arkham

Vicki watched him from behind the mask, letting her eyes scale him once again, taking in the slight tension in his limbs, but no more than she would expect given that he was in close quarters with a possible enemy. Satisfied enough that this was no trap, or at least not one she could spring at the moment, she inclined her head and stepped closer, her thumb slipping from the trigger on her staff. "But satisfaction brought it back," she finished, the distortion from the technology in her mask disguising the one indication of the curl of her lips beneath its shelter. "I would think that part a rather apt one, wouldn't you agree?" Her hands trailed across another chair, tugging it back and settling down in it in turn, her back straight and her staff not far from hand, something she knew he would take as a warning in turn. Trick me and I will make you pay for it.

She snorted softly, the sound coming across as a ripple of static, and her lips turned up in a smile behind the impassive facade of her mask. "You could have fooled me, Red Hood," she stated, her words coming through sharp and almost hostile, a product of the distortion. "You do seem to take a certain pleasure in removing the drug lords from the slums, as well as hunting down my children." It was a pointed message, a reminder that she was perfectly aware of who she sat across from and that if he thought she would betray her flock of exiles, he would be sorely mistaken.

Her chin lifted and head tilted slightly to the side, a remnant of the Vicki Vale who had adopted the mannerism, as she mulled over it. "Gotham has become rotten," she stated. "The elite have poisoned it and sought to forget about their so-called lessers, throwing them away like little more than garbage. I mean to prune the cancer from Gotham and right the wrongs done to my Children." All of her Children. It was only her duty, but she kept that banked. It was little secret that the Children welcomed and guarded the actual children and assorted family of those who were kept within the walls of the asylum, and that was answer enough for the people who didn't need to know. They were the children of the accursed place, and it would be foolish to advertise the truth of her mission of liberation. Tipping her hand would only earn her enemies she could not fight yet. Patience. Patience.

❝ He could almost laugh at the notion of it all. that Gotham had somehow become rotten, like it hadn't been since its conception. Built on the backs of selfmade men and the labor of others, families who could trace their way back as far as the Elliot's, the Wayne's, and yet would receive no piece of the heavenly kingdom that was now Bristol. His plan was a long time coming, a cleans and an acceptance.

She might not have agreed now, but he was sure he could persuade her to see his side of things. "An unfortunate oversight." he told her, casual as anything. This idea that he was hunting her children. " Gotham will always have its crime, its drug lords, and its pimps. I just intend to bring order." To bring balance to the vengeance of the Bat. For every ostentatious rich man with too deep pockets, there was an equally damaging terror of a man in the narrows. To eliminate one, Jason would have to eliminate the other.

"The rich, are too rich. Men like Falcone and Maroni plague the city with their own tyranny.' he agreed with her, adding his own twisted spin. "The bat hunts his adversaries and yet he fails to feed the hungry, heal the sick, or clothe the needy." He turned to face her now, offer sliding out of his mouth with practiced ease. " My intention is to off shift the axis of power in Gotham. The mayor, the elite, Batman and the other power players in this city. To take it back, for the people. A revolution. If you will." His metalic voice sounded ecstatic at the idea, ignoring the way his inner Robin lashed out against it.

we are the children of arkham

Her eyes narrowed behind her mask, fingers tightening on her staff, and for a prolonged moment, she longed to wheel and hit him with the force of her staff, put him on his back and bring him to heel under her boot. He had chased after her Children, and it was no more an oversight than the so-called shortage of food that plagued Gotham's underbelly. She stifled down the anger though, forced herself to swallow it down again, just as she had all the other injustices, and lowered the tension in her body. She would hear him out, she had promised herself that much, and even she couldn't deny that an ally would be useful for the Children. They couldn't fight the entire city on their own.

Her lip curled beneath her mask at the mention of Falcone, the hunger rising again. "Falcone and his sort are their own kind of cancer," she stated. "But they are every inch a ruling class as those who reside within the mansions." She mulled over the information. She had always wondered if, back in her own universe, the Bat had been another of the Children, a remnant of the twisted web of lies and destruction that had poisoned Arkham and its halls; it had led her to feel some sense of comradeship with him, twisted as it was, although she supposed he brought up a point. The Bat was no ally to her here,

"He addresses the problems too slowly," she decided, her words coming slow, as though carefully rationed when in truth she was testing the weight of them on her tongue, the reflection of reality they held. "We can use the Bat, at least for now, and the others who stalk the streets. Leave them to sort out the streets and the ones we can't yet touch." Batman had proven useful for that much, at least, willing enough to chase Falcone if she gave him incentive. It was a delicate dance she wove, but... revolution.... It turned up a fond smile on her lips, even if he could never see it. She always did like talk of revolution. "Are you proposing an alliance or an opportunity then?"

"both." his answer cam swift and concise. He was offering her both things, opportunity and an alliance. "The Bat is the epitome of Gotham's ruling class, and he will turn a blind eye as it suits him." Jason informed her. Despite his best efforts, emotion dripped through the robotic tin of his voice. After all, the bat had left him, Bruce had left him. A problematic kid from the projects with nothing to lose and everything to gain, failed Robin, a rebellious son. It would have been better, easier if he'd been left to rot in the narrows.

"A falsified idealism is a poison." he warned her, told her, a matter of fact. "Revolts are led with this sense and fail time and time again." Jason's plan was to take her need for Batman out of the equation. Red Hood could take out Falcone, Maroni, Black Mask and the other gangs still fluttering about. Then, as the opportunity arose, Lady Arkham could take her city and Jason, Jason would take the Bat. A perfect plan, so long as everyone played by the rules.

"I have my own issues. My own vendetta against the Bat. All I ask is that you not stand in my way." To allow Jason to move on the revenge ploys that he ha been working on for years, let it fall to fruition. "In return, I will give you everything you could ask for to spurn on your revolution." What she did with the people of Gotham was not his concern. The wealthy, the elite? Where had they been? Jason had been eating their scraps for years, and Bruce was no different.

we are the children of arkham

He was passionate, that much was certain, and she mused over the thought of it, turning it over in her mind. Red Hood held some kind of grudge against Batman; she supposed she could understand it, given that Oswald had felt much of the same disdain towards him. She couldn't quite place the emotion in his voice as he spoke, the modulator concealing some of the inflection, but she could guess well enough that it was nothing positive; he wouldn't be so eager to turn her against the Bat otherwise.

"Idealism is dangerous, especially when it comes from false faith," she agreed, even as she offered her own warning to him, "But so too is a blindness to the entirety of the board." She lifted her head, her chin proud even with the mask to conceal her face. "The Children of Arkham will not stand in the way of your vendetta with the Bat. While we will not openly interfere with any conflicts so long as we turn the Bat against Falcone and his like, should you find yourself at a disadvantage, the Children will provide you with shelter and some measure of sanctuary. However, should the day come where the Bat can no longer be led by the nose to accomplish our goals or otherwise turn against us, we will involve ourselves in your vendetta if you are willing to abide our aid."

She considered briefly the terms he offered before her fingers fluttered along her staff lightly as she came to a decision. "You will not target the Children of Arkham anymore on the streets save for where a cell has gone rogue and is actively bringing harm to those in the city who have suffered under the thumb of its ruling class. Any additional aid you may be able to bring us would be helpful, whether that be supplies from the drug rings you break up or even simple food or medical supplies. Where the city has opted to forget, the Children have decided to take care of their own."

❝ The sneer behind the hood was barely contained as Jason listened to her speak. The mention of Arkham made his skin crawl, visions of stained subway tile and uproarious and demented laughter bounce around in his skull. Her desire for her children of Arkham was not his concern. The longer he could keep his own involvement in the Asylum hidden, the better. He had been forged in those fires, and many of the men and women that she was now somehow oathed to protect were still sworn enemies. Either by their nature in crime, or their involvement in his own hellish time stuck under the floor boards of the ancient Sanitorium.

The very notion of anyone in Arkham caring for their own makes his neck stiff. He holds back the urge to crack the exhausted joints of his back. This isn't about him, this isn't about Jason Todd the boy who decided to ignore orders and chase a madman. This was about Red Hood, this was about revenge, this was about taking the city that had forged him as his own. If he had to separate himself and bury that sniveling little brat to the depths of his conscious in order to accomplish this, he would.

"Done." Jason agreed. He'd do as she asked. Keep his trigger finger under control while dealing with any of her kin, and they would stay out of his way. It was a simple trade. If he found any of them pushing their weight in the narrows, they were fair game. That sounded like a good trade off. Almost too good to be true, so Jason would keep his ear to the ground on it. The second he found his tentative partnership was being abused, he'd come down on the small group of once-patients. "I think it goes without saying that its not in your best interests to double cross me." he mused. Always better to tell someone your expectations after all.

we are the children of arkham

Vicki had always held a soft spot in her heart for Arkham Aslyum - how could she not, when she had memorized the twists and turns beneath its halls as a child, run through their maze with her hand tracing the remnants of her family's legacy? Even now, in this universe where the Arkhams were long dead, she still felt responsible for its halls, a comfort in them that she cloaked herself in whenever she felt some part of her shiver and balk from her task, growing weary by the reluctance that the gears of the city turned to find justice for the needy.

A part of her was uneasy with the truce they had just brokered, remembering the way the Red Hood had dealt with criminals in the past, along with her Children. He was a harsher brand of justice than Gotham had grown used to, and she knew that it had the underground uneasy- And that's not your problem, Vicki, she scolded herself. She wanted Gotham's crime syndicates to be on edge. Whether it was because of the Children or the Bat or anyone else was not her concern, as long as they didn't feel safe to do business. An unsafe crimelord was one who would hesitate to touch the Children, and one who would fall all the more easily into her hands.

She dipped her head to him. "Very well," she agreed. "You have our alliance, Red Hood." She resisted the urge to snort at his second statement, restraining herself so that the subsequent whoosh of air didn't turn into static from the modulator. While she personally found a kind of odd comfort in it, it had always made Oswald uneasy, so she'd nipped the habit out as much as she could, out of courtesy to her old friend, and it had persisted even into this universe as well. "And I would say the same to you. My Children and I do not break our word lightly. But should you choose to cross us, you will come to regret that decision." She had an entire shipment of Scarecrow's fear gas to ensure that. She lifted her chin high. "Was there anything else you wished to discuss with us tonight then?"
